Editorial Policy
Our editorial policy governs how every article on vaeyc is commissioned, written, reviewed, and maintained — from first draft to post-publication correction.
Our Editorial Mission
vaeyc exists to produce accurate, well-sourced, and genuinely useful content for self-directed learners, educators, and working professionals. This policy sets out the standards every piece of content must meet before it is published under the vaeyc name.
Content Workflow
Every article on vaeyc passes through four stages before publication:
- Commissioning & Outline — The author proposes a topic or responds to an editorial brief. An outline is drafted identifying the key claims to be made and the primary sources to be consulted.
- Draft & Internal Review — The author writes a full draft. A second team member reviews the draft for accuracy, clarity, logical structure, and editorial tone. Substantive concerns are returned to the author for revision.
- Fact-Check — All factual claims, statistics, and citations are verified against primary or authoritative secondary sources. Any unverifiable claim is either sourced correctly or removed. See our Fact-Checking Policy for the full procedure.
- Copy Edit & Publish — A final copy edit checks grammar, style consistency, internal links, and metadata before the article is scheduled and published with a named byline and publication date.
Sourcing Standards
Every article published on vaeyc is expected to include at least three cited sources. We give priority to:
- Peer-reviewed academic journals and conference proceedings
- Official publications from universities, government agencies, and recognized professional bodies
- Reporting from established, editorially independent news organizations
- Primary data from the organizations or products being discussed
We do not cite anonymous sources, undated web pages without institutional backing, or content that cannot be independently verified. When we link to an affiliate partner, the affiliate relationship is disclosed in the article.
Editorial Independence
vaeyc’s editorial decisions are made independently of our commercial relationships. Advertisers and affiliate partners do not influence which topics we cover, which products we recommend, or what conclusions we reach. Sponsored content, when published, is clearly labeled as such and kept editorially separate from our independent coverage. See our Ethics & Standards page for our full conflict-of-interest policy.
Update Cadence
We review articles on a rolling basis. Articles covering fast-moving topics — AI tools, online-learning platforms, labor market data — are reviewed at least every six months. When substantive new information requires a material change to a published article, the article is updated and a note is appended indicating the revision date and the nature of the change. Minor corrections to grammar or formatting are made silently.
Corrections
We take accuracy seriously. If a published article contains a factual error, we correct it promptly and transparently. Our process is described in full on the Corrections Policy & Log page. Readers can report errors to [email protected].
Contact the Editors
Questions about editorial decisions, sourcing, or content accuracy can be directed to [email protected]. We respond to substantive editorial inquiries within five business days.
