Our Ethical Commitments
vaeyc is committed to producing content that readers can trust. That commitment is not a marketing claim — it is a set of concrete, enforceable standards that every author and editor on this site is required to follow.
Accuracy
We do not publish claims we cannot verify. Every factual assertion in a vaeyc article must be supported by a credible primary or authoritative secondary source. When we are uncertain, we say so. When evidence is contested in the academic or professional literature, we present the debate rather than picking a side for the sake of a cleaner narrative. Errors, when they occur, are corrected transparently. See our Corrections Policy.
Independence
vaeyc’s editorial staff makes all coverage and recommendation decisions independently. No advertiser, affiliate partner, tool developer, or institutional sponsor has the right to approve, reject, or modify editorial content. If an advertiser objects to editorial coverage, the coverage is not changed. If that relationship cannot be maintained, vaeyc ends the commercial relationship rather than the editorial independence.
Conflicts of Interest
Authors are required to disclose any personal, financial, or professional relationship with the subjects they cover. This includes:
- Ownership of equity or financial interest in a company being reviewed
- Employment or consulting relationships with covered organizations
- Personal or familial relationships with individuals being quoted or profiled
- Receipt of review products, free access, or other consideration from companies we cover
Where a conflict of interest exists and cannot be avoided, the article is either reassigned to a conflict-free author or the conflict is disclosed prominently at the top of the piece.
Affiliate Disclosure
vaeyc participates in affiliate programs for some of the products and platforms it reviews. When a link in an article may generate referral income for vaeyc, this is disclosed at the top of the article with clear language such as “This article contains affiliate links. If you purchase through these links, vaeyc may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.” Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial conclusions. We do not recommend products we do not believe are genuinely useful to our readers.
Sponsored Content
vaeyc occasionally publishes sponsored articles in partnership with companies whose products or services are relevant to our audience. All sponsored content is clearly and prominently labeled “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership” at the top of the page and in any metadata. Sponsored content is written to meet our factual accuracy standards, but readers should understand it represents a paid relationship. vaeyc does not accept sponsored content that makes false or misleading claims.
