VAeyc – Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children

The Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children (VAeyc)

A nonprofit organization advancing early childhood education across Vermont

Our Mission

We are deeply committed to supporting children from birth through age eight by building strong systems that empower educators, uplift families, and promote equitable access to high-quality learning experiences.

Since our founding, VAeyc has served as a central hub for early childhood professionals across the state. Through professional development, resource sharing, advocacy, and partnerships, we help those working with young children thrive. We believe that early education lays the foundation for lifelong success, and we work to ensure that every child in Vermont has access to nurturing, developmentally appropriate environments that support their growth.

Our Work

As the official Vermont affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), VAeyc aligns with national standards while responding to the unique needs of our communities. We offer training programs, webinars, conferences, and mentoring to strengthen the early childhood workforce. Our resources include classroom tools, career guidance, and access to emerging research on child development.

Policy & Advocacy

VAeyc also plays a leadership role in public policy and systems-level advocacy. We work closely with policymakers, legislators, and coalitions to push for state and federal investments in early childhood education. From increasing compensation for early educators to expanding access to quality childcare, our policy agenda centers on what’s best for children, families, and professionals.

Our Commitment to Equity

Equity is at the heart of our mission. We strive to eliminate barriers that prevent historically marginalized children and families from accessing opportunities. Our work is inclusive of all backgrounds, races, abilities, and communities. Through grassroots outreach, community collaborations, and culturally responsive support, we ensure that early education is not just available—but meaningful—for every child.
