Tierney O’Meara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from St. Lawrence University and a M.A. in Education in Curriculum & Instruction, specializing in Inclusive Childhood Education Birth-Grade 6. She holds a current Birth- Grade 3 Vermont teaching endorsement.
In 2015 Tierney completed the Snelling Center’s VT Early Childhood Leadership Institute and is a 2016 graduate of Emerge Vermont, a premier training program for democratic women founded by Governor Madeline May Kunin. Tierney has been a presenter at National and State Early Childhood Conferences and webinars.
Currently, Tierney is an Assessor for Vermont’s STep Ahead Recognition System (STARS) for licensed early childhood and afterschool programs. She previously held positions as Vermont’s Universal PreK Coordinator, STARS Co-Coordinator and began her career in a variety of teaching and advocacy roles in Head Start and Early Head Start. Tierney is a native Vermonter who grew up in Middlebury and now resides in Vergennes with her two daughters. She loves crisp apple cider, red shoes, and continues to be inspired by the wonders of young children.
