2011 Spring Speaker Series – Diane Levin, Ph.D.

Diane Levin is coming to Vermont on Wednesday May 18th, 2011 for Early Childhood Day at Champlain College: VAEYC’s Spring Speaker. Diane will be speaking about her book, So Sexy So Soon. Diane’s book has received high praise and excellent reviews. This year marks VAEYC's third annual Spring Speaker Series. Each May, VAEYC brings a national level speaker to Vermont for a one-day event. This series serves as both an opportunity for quality professional development for Vermont's Early Childhood Community, and also as a fundraising event to support VAEYC's ongoing work and advocacy.

  • Afternoon session for early childhood educators: 2:00 – 5:00 pm, $35
  • Evening session for early childhood educators, parents, and the general public: 6:30 – 8:00 pm, $20
  • Register for both the afteroon and evening sessions: $50

Dealing with the Impact of Today's Sexualized Childhood on Young Children

Today even preschoolers are exposed to images of sexualized behavior in popular culture. On television, in videos, and at the mall, preschoolers see celebrities and cartoon charac- ters wearing short skirts and belly-button-exposing shirts.
