The Program Administrator/Director is responsible for center operations. This position is responsible for the overall leadership to the program including: overseeing the administrative functions, the educational quality and regulatory compliance. The position requires extensive knowledge about early childhood development, an ability to teach as needed, a passion for working with young children and families, a strategic vision, significant capacity for marketing and fundraising and the ability to support the day-to-day operations of a high quality Early Childhood Program. The Director will have strong interpersonal and organizational skills and an ability to effectively prioritize and manage time.

  • Ability to provide supervision, support and leadership to early educators/center staff to ensure their professional growth and regulatory compliance.

  • Have successful financial management experience including the ability to develop and manage a budget, set appropriate financial policies, complete other financial tasks and oversee administrative support staff.
  • Have knowledge of Human Resource best practices.
  • Have knowledge and ability to connect families to additional educational or human service agencies as needed.  
  • Have knowledge of and ability to collaborate with state and community agencies and systems.
  • Understand early childhood funding sources and the requirements related to receiving these funding sources.
  • Develop and lead the implementation of developmentally early education curriculum

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major or concentration in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Child and Family Services, Elementary/ Special Education with a birth to age eight (8) focus or a Bachelor’s Degree with thirty (30) college credits with an early childhood focus and 2-3 years of experience working with groups of young children.
  • Must qualify as Director per the Child Care Licensing regulations for the state of Vermont.
